Professional website Dr. Mike Charles teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in educational technology, mathematics methods, and professional portfolio development. His research interests include the uses of advanced visualization tools in teaching mathematics, science, and health in K-12 education, the way that technology enables student-initiated project learning environments, and the complexities involved in changing teacher practice. His recent work includes conducting a three-year mathematics workshop with a team of university faculty and professional development staff on a Title IIB Math and Science Partnership that developed teachers' skills at doing mathematics inquiry activities in data analysis and probability; and conducting a five-year follow-up study of 120 teachers as they implemented advanced scientific visualization software in their classroom practice following their participation in the National Science Foundation (NSF) funded Project Visualization in Science and Mathematics (Project VISM). He currently serves as the president-elect for the Special Interest Group for Teacher Education (SIGTE). PRESIDENT-ELECT ( July 2009-2010) Sarah McPherson ![]() Dr. Sarah McPherson is assistant professor and chair of the Instructional Technology department at New York Institute of Technology. She teaches multiple courses in Manhattan, Long Island and Online specializing in technology for diverse learners, literacy and language arts. She presents at international, national and regional conferences and publishes in professional association journals. Dr. McPherson serves on the Board of Directors of NYSCATE, New York’s ISTE affiliate, Conference Committee and Program for NYSCATE Annual and Metro Conferences and on Policy Boards for several New York State Teacher Centers. She received her master’s in Reading and doctorate in Special Education with a concentration in Technology from Johns Hopkins University. Her research interests include Web 2.0 tools for global professional networking and improving learning outcomes for diverse learners. She facilitated the online ISTE SigTE 2008 book discussion and is currently facilitating Teaching Every Student in the Digital Age Universal Design for Learning by David Rose and Anne Meyer http://teachingeverystudent.ning.com/. Her hobbies include traveling, reading bestseller novels and keeping tabs or her two grown daughters. TREASURER (July 2009-July 2012) Christine Greenhow ![]() Dr. Christine Greenhow is a visiting research fellow at Yale University and completed her post-doc in Learning Technologies at the University of Minnesota. Christine earned her doctorate from Harvard University where she was a Larson Fellow. She is the recipient of the University of Minnesota’s 2008-2009 Outstanding Postdoctoral Scholar Award for extraordinary scholarly achievement. Her research focuses on how people learn, teach, and collaborate using emerging social digital technologies. She is the Principal Investigator on the Youth and Social Media research project funded by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. She has been active in national educational reform and policy efforts and is the co-founder of an award-winning educational non-profit. COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER (July 2007-July 2010) Teresa S. Foulger ![]() Arizona State University, College of Teacher Education and Leadership (Phoenix, AZ) Professional Web Site Teresa is an Assistant Professor in the College of Teacher Education and Leadership at ASU. Her teaching style reflects her beliefs about collaboration and technology. Research interests focus on social learning and collaboration, especially technology enhancements. Recent projects include hybrid learning environments, collaboration in a first grade classroom, and innovative uses of technology for teaching in higher education. "My research agendas focus on technology supports to teaching and learning, and I’m especially interested in collaborative environments—both online and face-to-face.
